FREE Actor Musician Workshop with New International Encounter

Call out for Actors / Actor Musicians / Actor Puppeteers / Musicians

New International Encounter (NIE) are particularly interested to meet more artists from a wide range of backgrounds and are offering a free, open access opportunity to work with them during the Christmas 2017 run of Beauty and the Beast, co-produced by Tobacco Factory Theatres, NIE and Cambridge Junction.

Alex Byrne, Artistic Director of NIE, will lead a workshop at Tobacco Factory Theatres introducing NIE’s approach to tragic / comic / magical / musical / devised theatre. Participants will work with improvisation, play and the connection of live music with performance.

The workshop will explore the physical preparation of the body for performance through work on pure and expressive movement, and the playfulness of actors in performance through games and group work.

Artists who play music will be invited to bring their instrument as the workshop will cover working with music as a key and a spur for improvisation, using musicality and rhythm as tools in performance.
