Job Opportunities: Schools Take Over Project

After two years of incredibly exciting student-led productions, we’re really pleased to be delivering Schools Take Over for the third time in 2020! We’re now on the lookout for a creative team to lead the Schools Take Over project in 2019-2020 and help more students make another fantastic production.

In 2019, the Get Involved team at Tobacco Factory Theatres worked with students from the Autism Centre at Kingsweston School and New Fosseway School for 3 months to deliver a series of drama, music, movement and design workshops. Working with a professional creative team, the students showed off their storytelling and performance skills when they took over the Factory Theatre in April with The Wrong End of the Telescope – a brand new show devised in response to our production earlier this year of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Schools Take Over is a really exciting project for Tobacco Factory Theatres – we open our doors and invite students to take over the theatre and perform a new, brilliant and surprising show. Our aim is to champion access to the arts for children with special educational needs and disability (SEND). By placing their voices at the centre of our work, we hope to inspire the next generation of disabled young people to get involved, share their stories and stake their claim to the stage.

We’re looking for a creative team of an Actor/Facilitator, Director and Musical Director to lead the Schools Take Over project in 2020. If you’d like to get involved and be part of this team, download the information packs to the right of this page.

To express an interest in any of these roles, please send your CV and a brief covering letter to Get Involved Producer Ames at amy@tobaccofactorytheatres.com by Sun 08 September.
