The Love I Feel Is Red Blog 1

The team have just begun their second week of rehearsals for our latest creation for our renowned a Play, a Pie and a Pint series – The Love I Feel Is Red. We asked cast member, Janet Etuk, to take a moment out of her busy schedule to tell us all about week one, and this is what she had to say:

“I’ve been a fan of Sabrina Mahfouz’s unique style of work for a few years now. I find I’m always drawn to pieces that explore what it means to be human, which I find is what The Love I Feel Is Red is partly about. What makes us who we are, the lengths we go to, to find happiness and the struggles we go through to make decisions.

It’s such a particularly sensitive piece that so far I’ve found that every day has been a challenge for me to make sure I’m giving all I can to help the team bring the production and the complex character of Mona to life.

It’s been an emotional rollercoaster this first week; so exciting, raw and thought-provoking. I’m so proud and honoured to be a part of it! Nel Crouch has been directing the scenes so carefully that I find I’m able to really connect to the delicious language and rhythms used to express the character’s journey and have so far been finding the words strangely addictive to play with!”

The Love I Feel Is Red is our latest in-house production for a Play, a Pie and a Pint (created in association with Òran Mór); a series which celebrates new writing. And pies. Its also the final show in our sell-out Tobacco Factory Theatres BEYOND season of epic theatre across Bristol.
