A beautiful new piece of storytelling and song exploring some of the less talked about issues of new motherhood, by new company In Our Hands.
Armed with a token of love from her dying mother, Vasilisa is on a journey into darkness to discover her own flaming strength. Baba’s Song is a folk tale of our time.
Two performers use the restrictions of space to invite audiences into a vast universe of the imagination. Devised using song and physical theatre, Baba’s Song is the story of one woman’s journey into new motherhood. Exploring some of the less talked about themes of becoming a mother, we follow Vasilisa through forests of the unknown, into the oppression of deepest darkest fear, to uncover a burning rage that needs to break free.
In Our Hands is an emerging South West based theatre company made up of actor/physical theatre performer Kim Heron (Green Ginger, Theatre Ad Infinitum) and musician/actor Jannah Warlow (Verity Standen, Bristol Old Vic). Baba’s Song will see Kim and Jannah collaborate with Bristol director Emma Williams and composer/musical director Verity Standen to create a new piece of performance storytelling.
