    Inside: A Midsummer Night’s Dream is an event created to open up discussion around the theatrical and political context of A Midsummer Night’s Dream as well as examining methods from our rehearsal room. Take part in lively discussions, lectures, workshops and Q&A sessions with experts in the field.

    Tea, coffee and croissants will be served in the morning and a buffet lunch will be provided at 1pm.

    Director in Conversation
    With exclusive insights from the rehearsal room, hear the director, Mike Tweddle, talking about the influences and creative decisions that have fed into this production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

    An Actor’s Approach to Shakespeare
    James Gitsham shares how approaches to performing Shakespeare have changed over time. Audience interaction is optional. James is Senior Voice and Dialect Tutor at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

    Staging A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Then & Now
    A talk by Dr Nick Walton who devises and delivers programmes of study for school and university students, as well as for members of the general public at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-upon-Avon. He has published widely on Shakespeare’s works for Penguin, Routledge, Cambridge and Dorling Kindersley, and has performed in Shakespeare’s plays on stage and screen.  Nick has been a guest speaker for the National Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the British Museum, and has worked closely with theatre companies in Boston and Kentucky, USA. He is co-author of The Shakespeare Wallbook and has been a presenter for two FutureLearn Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) on Othello and Much Ado About Nothing.

    You do not need to see the production in advance. However if you would like to see the production on the same day, the morning is timed so that you can watch the matinee performance.
