Peter Brook collaborated with composer Marius Constant to create a journey through much of Bizet’s memorable music, including Carmen’s ‘Habanera’, Escamillo’s Toreador Song and Don José’s Flower Song, together with powerful new passages.
This dark and thrilling interpretation, set at the end of the Spanish Civil War, investigates the psychological elements central to this retelling of Carmen’s tale. Directed by John Wilkie, the opera is brought to life in an intense chamber production by the critically acclaimed Pop-Up Opera.
