SUMMER SCHOOL DOUBLE BILL
This year our summer schools present a Greek themed double bill. Expect bold theatre, live music and lots of noise! Join us for an hour of epic adventure…
Scorched Wings
Directed by Rosie Mason and Lizzie Wiggs
Performed by a company of 25 young people, aged 8 – 12
Trapped in a tower with his father and growing ever restless, Icarus dreams of another life; of taking flight across vast oceans, flying high with the sea birds to a land filled with possibilities and new discoveries.
But the higher he flies the further he has to fall.
The Icarus myth is brought to you by an ocean chorus – the voice of the knowing sea that kicks up storms, stirs up treasure, hides secrets and carries travellers to new lands and to the murky depths below.
Orpheus
Directed by John Ward
Musical Direction and Composition by David Hewson
Performed by a company of 30 young people, aged 13 – 19
Orpheus is 16. He is the God of music. When he sings everyone and everything is under his spell. Except Eurydice – his one true love.
When Eurydice is taken to the Underworld, Orpheus must use all his powers to save her. But how will he move the Dark Lords of the Underworld and can he get his sweetheart back up to the land of the living?
Live music, choral singing and stylish ensemble storytelling combine to tell this epic musical myth of love, life and death.
